IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the very first all-inclusive Kimpton Hotel. Kimpton has teamed up with Sunset World and Playa Hotels & Resorts to rebrand its resort, which originally opened in 2008. The brand new Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park will open in early 2024 in Playa del Carmen.

What to expect:

The current resort will undergo a rebrand and renovation and will include 255 rooms, suites, and villas, five pools, a spa, and a fitness center. In addition, the resort will have its own private beach, 11 different eateries, family-friendly amenities, such as water sports and a Kids Club, and 26,200 square feet of space reserved for events and meetings.

Mike DeFrino, CEO of Kimpton, said, “This development is testament to Kimpton’s continued growth and broad resonance. We couldn’t have found better partners than Sunset World and Playa Hotels & Resorts to bring our first all-inclusive resort to life, and believe our special brand of boutique hospitality will translate perfectly in this renowned part of Mexico.”

Lavish settings:

Tres Ríos Nature Park will consist of 326 acres of tropical forest with, true to its name, three rivers flowing through it. The nature park is home to 90+ animal species and 120+ different varieties of plant life. Guests will have access to 10 cenotes on the grounds and will be able to enjoy snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, and guided tours of the mangrove forests.

Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos appeals to guests seeking both sustainable, eco-friendly travel options and all the amenities that come with a luxury resort experience.

What the resort offers:

Off the resort’s premises, there is also much for guests to see and do. Shopping, golfing, exploring ancient Mayan ruins, and dining at a variety of different restaurants are just a few of the nearby experiences.

“We are thrilled to join this venture with Playa Hotels & Resorts and Kimpton Hotels. With 30 years in the hotel industry, we know that one must continue to reinvent our business. We are confident that this new venture will provide new and unique experiences to our guests,” said Daniel Arroyo, Vice President of New Development and Board Member of Sunset World.

Following footsteps:

Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos will be the second Kimpton in Riviera Maya. Its first was the 72-room Kimpton Aluna Hotel. As the brand continues to grow and expand, 25 new Kimpton hotels are slated to open within the next five years in places like Bali, Shanghai, and Mexico City.
