Hotel Review: DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Zanzibar – Nungwi

Our Rating

Zanzibar, the Spice Island.  Known for its vibrant colors, friendly people and delicious food enveloped in spices from all over the world, this African gem is a must-do for any traveler’s wish list. There’s no way you can come to the island and not experience the endless sea of blue surrounding it, particularly as Zanzibar is known for its beaches above all else. If you’re looking for the best place to indulge, there’s nowhere better than the DoubleTree Resort in Nungwi.

Doubletree1

Situated on the most northern tip of Zanzibar in Nungwi, the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Zanzibar – Nungwi is a beach lover’s paradise.  From the moment you arrive the breeze from the Indian Ocean embraces you with soothing kisses, and the amazing staff welcomes you with a refreshing drink and the most delicious fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, a signature of the DoubleTree. (Seriously, where can I buy these?!)

Doubletree8

The rooms are decorated in traditional Zanzibar style with plush beds, colorful artwork adorning the walls and spectacular ocean views.  Feel free to relax in the wicker chairs on your balcony, enjoy the scenery, and send “wish you were here” pictures to friends back at home using the complementary (and reliable) wifi. Praises!

Suite Doubletree2

You can enjoy a dip in the plunge pool and sip on drinks from Dolphin’s Pool Bar, sample international and fusion flavors at Fisherman Bar & Grill, enjoy yoga on the beach or do a little snorkeling.  Speaking of beaches, Nungwi beach is simply breathtaking.  Unlike some other resorts that cut you off from local life, the best part of staying at the DoubleTree Resort in Nungwi is that it keeps you right in the heart of it.  From helping local women catch fish along the sandbank to watching the men play soccer as the sun set, I could not get enough of Nungwi beach.  Even sitting under an umbrella doing absolutely nothing will leave you speechless. How could it not when the view in front of you is an endless sight of the bluest waters your eyes will ever see?

Doubletree3 Doubletree5 Doubletree6

The location, hotel staff, amenities, friendly locals and heavenly white sand beaches all make for an unforgettable stay in paradise. If I had to go to Zanzibar 1000 times, I would pick the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Zanzibar – Nungwi as my hotel choice each and every time.  Officially #hotelwhisperer approved!

Asante DoubleTree, I’ll definitely be back!

Omg… u went by yourself I still haven’t worked up enough courage to travel by myself but I’m getting there. Do you travel by yourself often? This place is definitely on my list and the price of the hotel is awesome. Was your plane ticket expensive??

Yup! From the Caribbean to Australia and back again, solo travel is my thing! I caught a deal on TheFlightDeal.com for under $900 RT. There have been a ton of deals to Zanzibar on there lately so keep on the look out!

    Hello,

I am interested in teaching as an expat in Italy. The visa process seems quite cumbersome. Can you help me fi nd out how I can teach in Italy? I would like to live there permanently one day. I am also interested in becoming a curator for Italy. I would really like your feedback.

    Thanks,

Thanks for writing this! I am currently in Zanzibar staying at the Doubletree. It’s very nice and the beach is amazing. Im solo too but I feel very comfortable. Definitely looking forward to walking around town today. I sent my first two days in Stone Town. It was great. I stayed at the Doubletree there too.
