Top Fall Travel Destinations To Start Planning Now
We can only hope that travel restrictions will be lifted by the Fall. With dreams of travel currently on hold, now is a good time to sit down and start planning your next getaway. Fall is a great time to see the world. With milder temperatures across many regions and fewer crowds, Fall may be the best time to travel this year. Here are a few destinations to consider.
1. Lisbon, Portugal
From ancient castles to rugged shorelines, Lisbon is a city that offers something for everyone. Temperatures in the fall can range from the mid-60’s to lower 80’s depending on your month of travel, which is much milder than the steamy summer temperatures. You will also see fewer crowds at popular tourist destinations, such as strolling through the maze of streets in the Alfama district, dining in Barrio Alto, or visiting the Belém Tower, the 16th-century fortification that served as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers.
2. Cape Town, South Africa
From September to November, you can expect to experience comfortable temperatures in the mid-70’s in Cape Town. It might not be the most ideal weather for relaxing on the beaches, but this vibrant city has so much more to offer. Enjoy an afternoon hike along Table Mountain, take a scenic wine tasking tour, or experience the lively rainbow of colors that paint the neighborhood of Signal Hill.
3. Santa Barbara, California
Head to the west coast to hit the beaches in the Fall. September still offers warm temperatures in Southern California and the beach weather can stretch into October and November as well. Stearns Wharf is a popular spot for tourists, along with taking a stroll down State Street for ample selections of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Santa Barbara also offers excellent wine tasting tours that can be enjoyed while watching the iconic SoCal sunsets over the ocean.
4. Kauai, Hawaii
From September to November, temperatures in Kauai can range from the low to high 70’s. Nature enthusiasts will fall in love with the island’s vast options of outdoor activities. With rugged mountains, waterfalls, and beaches, this paradise location offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. If you can avoid the timing of Fall break, this is a great season to visit to avoid most of the large crowds that flock here in the summer and winter months.
5. Tangier, Morocco
Tangier is a coastal city located in northwestern Morocco. September through November offer cooler temperatures than you will see during the summer season and fewer crowds as well. The Hercules Caves, famed cliff and lighthouse, Cape Spartel, and historic museums can be enjoyed without the hassle of long lines.
