It’s an exciting time for comedian Mike Epps and his career.

According to Detroit Free Press, “the star comedian is set to launch a multipurpose entertainment and dining establishment in downtown Detroit.”

Born in Indiana, Epps rose to prominence when he joined the Def Comedy Jam tour in the mid-1990s. He’s principally known for stand- up comedy. But according to his website, he also has experience as a writer, producer and actor (on screen and voiceover).

1. Where Will The Comedy Club Be?

The comedy and music club, called One Mike, will be at 1331 Broadway Street in downtown Detroit.

The site used to be Punch Bowl Social, a bowling chain which folded during the pandemic.

2. How Has The Venue Been Promoted?

Detroit Free Press reported, “a version of the One Mike webpage says, “whether you seek big laughs, spoken word, gospel, jazz or cool rhythm & blues, One Mike will have everything you need!”

One Mike has made pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

3. Will There Be A Launch Party?

Yes.

A press release said there will “be a private launch party at the Broadway Street site.”

Some of those in attendance will include Horace Sheffield III, a Detroit-based pastor and broadcast personality.

Detroit Free Press also said, “executives from Epps’ recently formed One Mike Enterprises,” will be present.

4. Epps Has Been In The Game A Long Time

The 52-year-old comedian and actor has been in the entertainment world for a long time.

He’s been in the “Friday” movies, both Hangover movies and two Resident Evil films.

Detroit Free Press wrote, “Epps broke big at the turn of the 2000s via appearances on ‘Def Comedy Jam’ and in films alongside Ice Cube and others.”
