Get Away: Getting To And Around Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago

By Air 

Most travelers arrive in Port of Spain via Piarco International Airport, located about 15 miles southeast of the city center. The airport is well-connected to destinations in North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. While there is no direct public bus service to the city, licensed airport taxis with fixed rates and private hotel transfers are readily available, making pre-arranged transportation the most convenient option.

Renting a car can be a good option when exploring beyond the city or taking scenic drives around Trinidad and Tobago. Keep in mind that locals drive on the left side of the road, and traffic can be heavy during peak hours in the main areas of Port of Spain.

By Public Transit

The Public Transport Service Corporation operates buses across the city and nearby towns at affordable rates. Maxi taxis, also known as shared minivans on set routes, are a popular and faster alternative. Keep in mind that they can be a bit tricky to navigate for first-time visitors.
