By Air
The nearest airport is Quepos La Managua Airport, roughly 10 to 15 minutes from town. Most international travelers fly into San José Airport and take a short domestic flight to Quepos in less than 30 minutes. The local flights offer scenic views of the mountains and coastline. It’s also the fastest way to skip the long drive from the capital.
By Car
Renting a car is a great option when leisurely exploring the region. The drive from San José to Quepos takes about two to three hours via Route 27 and the Coastal Highway (Route 34). Roads are generally in good condition, though they can be steep or narrow in hilly areas around Manuel Antonio. Parking is available at most hotels and near the national park but may be limited during peak season.
By Public Transit
Buses run regularly between San José and Quepos, with travel times ranging from three to five hours. The main bus terminal in Quepos offers connections to nearby towns and Manuel Antonio National Park. It’s the most budget-friendly way to travel, though it’s slower than driving or flying. Within Quepos and Manuel Antonio, local buses and minivans are available for short trips.
