The French Riviera (or Côte d’Azur) is known for its glamour, natural beauty, and as a haven for A-list celebrities. Although Cannes, Nice, and Antibes are all within a 40-minute drive from each other, each area has its own personality and draw to attract different types of travelers to this sun-soaked corner of France.

Cannes

Cannes has gained an international reputation due to its annual film festival that increases the number of A-list celebrities, luxury yachts, and glamourous parties to this already luxurious location.  It’s also recognized for its iconic white sand beaches, that are often considered the best in all of the French Riviera. If you are looking to spend most of your time laying on the beach, then opt for Cannes over Nice where the beaches are covered with cobblestones. The resort town vibe is perfect for those looking for a relaxing getaway where most activities revolve around the beaches and oceanfront restaurants.

Nice

Nice is known as being a larger, more dynamic city than Cannes. Though the beaches are stunning in their own way, they are covered in cobblestone instead of soft sand which may not be ideal for anyone looking to lay under the sun for hours at a time. When in Nice, check out the old city, where you will find a large market during the day and lively restaurants and bars at night. If you are looking for a faster pace vacation, than Nice is your spot.

Antibes

Located between Cannes and Nice sits Antibes. The resort town is known for its rich history and active yachting community. From the Picasso Museum in Château Grimaldi to the ruins of Fort Carré, Antibes’ old town has remained unchanged for centuries. Art historians and history buffs will love the ancient architecture, museums, and cultural attractions of this small town.  If you are having a hard time deciding between Cannes, Nice, and Antibes, Antibes is a great central spot where you can easily visit the other two locations for weekend or day trips.
