Meow and Barks Boutique (Jacksonville, FL)

NAKIMULI (Brooklyn, NY)

Cultivated by color, shapes, and prints, NAKIMULI has been worn by Jill Scott, Danielle Brooks, Jasmine Sullivan, and Erykah Badu to name a few. Their clothes embrace self-love, sisterhood, individuality, comfort, and lots of fierceness. Owner Tennille McMillan taught herself to sew at a young age, fast forward to 2009, when she established NAKIMULI, with a feminine aesthetic still being worn today.

Nigerian-born owner and soon to be college graduate Teni “Tia” Adeola started Slashed by Tia from her dorm room. She gained massive attention for her ruffled clothing which was partially inspired by art history and 16th-century Renaissance paintings she studied while living in London. Her performance at New York Fashion Week last year received rave reviews for her sheer tops and luxury bottoms. Teen Vogue claimed her as being “one of the greatest female couture designers in the world.”

It included wine, food, shopping, adult coloring, and fun. I snagged myself a couple of goodies a picture with Olori all just before finding out her favorite color wasn’t actually blue.
