Big Freedia is one of the most popular faces of New Orleans bounce music. She has taken her throne over the last few years as the ‘Queen of Bounce Music,’ especially after making appearances on Beyonce’s ‘Formation’ and later Drake’s ‘In My Feelings.’

Just this past February, the musician announced her desire to work with the ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s on developing some flavors together.

If you know like I know, putting things out in the universe means that you also need to be ready for them to happen.

In a statement released this past week, the ice cream company announced plans to work closely with Big Freedia in a collaboration that will benefit several local non-profits during Essence Fest weekend.

“Ben & Jerry’s is teaming up with the Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia for a day of music, food, and of course FREE ice cream, at Republic NOLA. We will be announcing a new partnership together that will be benefiting local non-profits, and did we mention it will be sweet? 100% of the proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry LA, Liberty’s Kitchen, and Upturn Arts.”

The day will be one big block party for all who are interested in attending.

While there hasn’t been any announcement of bringing the “big booty beignets’ flavor to life, fans are crossing their fingers that something big will come from the announcement set to happen on July 6.

The event will also bring an exclusive release of Big Freedia’s newest song, “Chasing Rainbows.”

You can catch her performing two more times during the popular music festival. She’ll host a free concert at Armstrong Park, 701 N. Rampart St. from noon to 9 p.m on July 4. Then a bounce concert with Mannie Fresh on Sunday, July 7, at the Superdome.

Are you excited to see if a flavor collaboration will happen?
