The Hollywood sign is the gift that keeps on giving — especially when it comes to Instagram-worthy shots. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it never gets old seeing the city’s signature sign. You never know, you might look up one day and see it famously defamed, like when one vandal altered the sign to say “Hollyweed” in 2017.

Whether you’re looking to get up close and personal with the sign or a star-studded view, these hikes offer a chance to explore LA’s famous scenery:

This 6.4-mile roundtrip trail takes you behind the Hollywood sign and after gaining 1,050 feet of elevation, you’ll be treated to expansive views of the city. If you want to add on another Hollywood sight to your hike, take a trip to the nearby Bronson Cave, which is famous for being the entrance to the Batcave on the Batman TV series.
