A huge wave caused by a tropical storm crashes a Hawaii wedding but doesn’t stop the party —at all.

Tropical storm Darby caused huge wall-like waves to crash a wedding ceremony this Saturday in Kailua, Hawaii. The multiple waves interrupted the wedding ceremony but thankfully no guests (or cakes) were harmed.

According to local media outlet, Khon2, the huge waves made an unwelcome appearance on the west coast of Hawai’i, The Big Island.

The couple’s wedding reception was destroyed in seconds as multiple waves crash the party at the Hulihe’e Palace in Kailua-Kona.

The couple, Dillon and Murphy, were relieved that neither the guests nor cake was destroyed despite the intense waves.

After a quick clean-up, the wedding mood was restored. The couple even described the ceremony as “beautiful”. In a statement, the bride told Khon2 that even despite the wrecked dance floor “nobody seemed to mind, at the end of the night we were all like dancing in the mud and it was amazing”.

Riley told the local outlet that seeing unity in the face of hardship taught her a life lesson after the waves rushed in.

“And just the analogy of, you know, life and storms hit. And it’s just, it’s so important to come together and to have all of our family and our loved ones there and it just made it very special,” Riley said.
