With a population nearing three million, Denver is a city that does its best to keep locals and tourists entertained with sports, food and fun activities.
With so much to do around Denver, it's easy to forget about other nearby must-sees. Here's a list of day trips to consider that might inspire overnight stays around Colorado.
Boasting a summer concert series, the Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater is less than 30 miles from Denver. It has a performers hall of fame and a 1.4 mile hiking trail.
The registered National Natural Landmark is a sight you won't soon forget. Located in Colorado Springs, the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center are both free and open to the public.
Just 30 miles away from Denver, the Wild Animal Sanctuary has over 300 acres of facility for education and rescue. They host hundreds of carnivores, including lion prides living in natural habitats.
Black Hawk is the home of casinos. Just 39 miles from Denver, it holds over 10,000 slot machines. The area is also known for its Victorian architecture.
Requiring online reservations, this byway is frequented most during the holidays. It's located 60 miles from the city and is inclusive of the Denver Botanical Garden.
