Meet Tanqueray, Veteran Stripper And Most Fascinating Person In New York
If you’ve ever been on the internet, chances are you’ve heard of the Humans Of New York social media pages. The brand is known for having mini-interviews with the most random New Yorkers and documenting their life stories.
This past week, Humans Of New York posted an autobiography so captivating that fans are asking for a movie to be made in the subjects’ honor.
Meet Tanqueray, an ex-stripper who detailed her days of glitz, glamour and gay bars during the ’70s. Her story, which was released in 3 parts, gained traction and people instantly began asking that her story be turned into a movie or a memoir.
Tanqueray’s story begins with her detailing her New York upbringing and the tumultuous relationship she had with her mother. She reveals that her mother had her arrested, but things only get more entertaining from there. You have to read it for yourself to believe it.
After receiving well over 29,000 shares and 28,000 comments on Facebook in record time, Humans of NY released second and third installments, giving us more juicy details of Tanqueray’s story.
“I was the only black girl making white money,” Tanqueray says, detailing her days as an exotic dancer throughout mob clubs in New York. “I made my real money on the road. Three grand on some trips.”
Naturally, Tanqueray’s story captivated everyone it’s reached. Fans took to twitter pitching stories to director Lena Waithe, Netflix, HBO, and more.
