President Ronald Reagan signed the holiday into law back in 1983 and it was officially celebrated three years later. The holiday typically falls a few days after Dr. King’s birthday on January 15. While the day is primarily celebrated with volunteer work in cities across the nation, travelers take advantage of the three-day weekend with some awesome travel deals.
Since January is a winter month, one would think escaping the cold weather would be preferred, but there’s nothing wrong with snuggling up at a hotel overlooking the beautiful scenery in Aspen.
