On Wednesday night, a JetBlue passenger traveling from New York’s JFK airport to West Palm Beach, Florida boarded his flight knowing he was waiting on results from a recent Coronavirus screening. Despite the CDC’s pleas to people feeling unwell or those under the impression that they may have the virus, the man took the flight anyway.

He alerted the airline crew on arrival that his test was in fact positive. Because of this, the airline has now decided to ban the passenger from flying in the future.

“Last night’s event put our crewmembers, customers, and federal and local officials in an unsettling situation that could have easily been avoided, and as such, this customer will not be permitted to fly on JetBlue in the future,” the airline said in a statement Thursday.

The airport crew immediately began cleaning all potentially affected areas where the passenger had been, based on security camera footage. Concourse A of Palm Beach’s airport was temporarily closed so that it could be cleaned after all passengers on the flight deplaned.

“Passengers in the vicinity of the positive patient were advised of monitoring procedures. The rest of the passengers were released to go home and given directions … to call the health department with any medical concerns,” Capt. Albert Borroto of Palm Beach Fire and Rescue said.

Again, if you are feeling unwell please self-quarantine for your health and the health of others.
