A passenger has been charged with assault after exhibiting erratic behavior aboard a United flight, which included injuring flight attendants. According to CBS News, he is also being charged with interfering with flight crew members and attendants.

What went down:

Cherruy Loghan Sevilla admitted to authorities that he had taken psilocybin, a hallucinogenic drug also known as “magic mushrooms” before the flight. About an hour into the flight, which was traveling from Miami to Washington, DC, he began behaving in an uncontrollable manner.

Sevilla broke part of a bathroom door and opened the locked door while someone was inside. He displayed other disturbing behavior as well, including yelling, clapping near the cockpit, running down the aisle, and getting in other passengers’ faces while smiling and staring at them.

The chaos continued:

He took his seat for a while but was soon back up. According to court documents, Sevilla attacked a flight attendant and is accused of grabbing and twisting her breast. Others aboard the flight intervened and during the process, Sevilla twisted another flight attendant’s arm.

Upon landing, he was taken into custody. It was then that he told authorities that he had taken the drug at the airport before boarding the plane.

Apologies followed:

He also admitted that it was not his first time taking the hallucinogenic drug and that he was sorry for his actions though not surprised to hear of his behavior while under the influence of the drug.
