Last month, Ovolo Hotels, announced that all of its bars and restaurants in Australia and Hong Kong would be fully vegetarian for 365 days.

The movement has been given the name “The Year of the Veg” and according to Girish Jhunjhnuwala, the founder and CEO of Ovolo Hotels, “Dining out and enjoying tasty food and wine with great company is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Good times and good intentions are how we’re evolving. We want to be conscious about what we are consuming and practice environmental sustainability as best as we can, as this leads to a larger impact on humanity, not just the environment.”

Ovolo Hotels is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and is going completely vegetarian for a year in hopes to inspire others to eat ethically. The hotel group has also eliminated all single-use plastic amenities, straws, and has started using biodegradable materials in packaging and laundry bags in all of its hotels.
