Former first lady Michelle Obama was the epitome of style and grace. She will probably go down in history as one of the best (if not the best) first ladies of all time.

She and President Obama tried their best to maintain a somewhat normal life during their time in office by frequenting several businesses and restaurants in the area.

While their time in office has ended, you can still feel close to her and her husband with this list of things to do in Washington.

Visit the Mural on the side of Ben’s Chili Bowl

What better way to get close to the Obama’s than by checking out a giant mural of them in D.C. While you are there, you can also grab a quick bite to eat at Ben’s Chili Bowl.

Get your workout on at Soul Cycle

Mrs. Obama was known for her killer arms and her commitment to a healthy lifestyle. One of her favorite exercises while in D.C. was at Soul Cycle. Book a class and work out just like the former first lady did.

Marvel at her portrait in the National Portrait Gallery

Artist Amy Sherald was given the opportunity to commission a painting of Mrs. Obama that now hangs in the gallery. We’ve seen the viral photos of the young girl who was amazed by the painting, now you can go see it for yourself.

Designer Tracy Reese created the dress that is on display in the museum. Be sure to check the museum’s website because their entry policy has recently been updated.

Visit the same restaurants that the President and First Lady did

The couple made time to celebrate special occasions and even sneak in an occassional date night here and there. Here are some of the restaurants that they frequented:

SEI Restaurant: This modern Asian eatery was opened in 2009 on Inauguration Day. They offer a $10 bottomless mimosas during brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The Obamas visited the spot often.

Rasika/Rasika West End: An Indian, fine-dining restaurant that served the family for President Obama’s 56th birthday in 2017. They also feature a temperature controlled wine cellar. Indian is said to be the President’s favorite cuisine.

Oyamel: The First Lady chose this Mexican spot to have her birthday dinner in 2016. Owned by celebrity chef Jose Andres, the restaurants offers everything from Mexican small plates to unique margaritas.

Maydan: Voted by Food and Wine as one of the city’s hottest restaurants for 2018, Mrs. Obama visited this Middle Eastern/ Central Asian eatery earlier this year.

A Rake’s Progress: Located inside the new Line Hotel, this spot was the choice for Michelle’s 54th birthday earlier this year. The restaurant features dishes from Mid-Atlantic farms and waters.

If you need other ideas on things to do in D.C, head over to the city’s official website to see what’s happening.
