Located at 19327 Livernois, Bronzed N Glow is Detroit’s first Black-owned and woman-owned beauty boutique on the city’s historic Avenue of Fashion.
Co-founders Jamesha Lucas and Destiny Thomas wanted to provide “a modern twist” to the beauty shopping experience that would educate and guide consumers to purchase the best products for their hair after noticing a gap in the haircare market.

“They can expect the experience they deserve. I am so excited for people to experience this space,” Lucas told CBS Detroit. “This is the way I saw it in my dream. I truly believe God gave this to me and I tell my team all the time it’s not mine to keep, it’s my gift to give. It’s not about me it’s about these beautiful Glow Getters.”
What makes Bronzed N Glow different from any other hair care shopping experience is the fact they tailor shopping to each customer’s hair and scalp conditions.

Lucas revealed the store has a hair analyzer that scans the hair and scalp for a microscopic look. The device will be able to detect conditions such as irritation, flaking, dandruff to help consultants recommend the best products for customers’ hair and scalp types.
“We’re not medical professionals, that’s the one thing that I want people to make sure that they understand,” she said. “We are here to guide you in the process. We are not making a medical diagnosis of any sort, but we do want to be able to recommend you to a dermatologist if something comes up.”
The store is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 am to 6 pm, Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
