There’s long been a myth that parents, especially parents with small children, must forego extensive traveling as their family grows. Family vacations are often relegated to contemporary cruises or trips to local theme parks, with many believing that travel across great distances, especially abroad, is too much of a hassle for large families to endure.

Traveling with children poses its own unique challenges, but with planning and patience, the experience can be something that both kids and parents will treasure for a lifetime. Here are just a few times that black parents proved that seeing the world can be extra special when you share the experience with your family.
