If you recall, earlier this year there was complete chaos around airline carrier WOW Air announcing that it was ceasing operations. While there were speculations that the airline was going under, no one saw what was coming next.
Despite knowing that they were shutting down due to overwhelming debt, the airline continued booking passengers for flights. This led to thousands of passengers being stranded in various destinations around the world, after learning that the airline would not be getting them back home.
Soon after, the airline issued a statement that it would officially be ceasing operations indefinitely.

Now, it seems that they will be coming back after all. In a press conference that took place last week in Iceland, it was announced that heiress and Chairman Michele Ballarin, of USAerospace Associates LLC, would be taking over.
Ballarin said the airline will start flights from Keflavik Airport in Reykjavik to Washington Dulles International Airport in October. However, an exact date hasn’t been set yet. The new headquarters for the airline will be housed at Washington’s Dulles Airport.
For now, they will only operate 1-2 planes with hopes of increasing to 10-12 planes by the summer of 2020.
Ballarin plans to take over under the same name and vows to keep costs low, which is something the airline was most known for. In addition to low fares, the plan is to add a few upgrades for passengers as well.
The airline is working with a Michelin-starred chef to create a menu that will bring more nutritious meals to those flying. Michele is also looking to add access to airport lounges into the mix.
WOW was most known for it’s one-way sales from the U.S. to Iceland. Flights could be found for as low as $99 one-way, which led to them carrying over one-third of all visitors to Iceland.
