After staying home for more than a year, Americans are desperate to travel again. Many of them are so ready that they would give up love, money, and sex for an entire year to take a trip, according to a study released by the travel site Trivago.

More than 80% of the 2,000 polled said travel is a part of a well-rounded life because it’s an important part of self-care and wellness, and expands one’s perspective in life.

With this in mind, nearly half, or 48% of respondents said they would give up their job; 38% would give up sex for a year, 25% would give up their savings; and 1 in 5 said they would leave their partner for good if it meant they could take a trip in the near future.

It’s clear that travel plays a massive role in our lives and overall happiness.

So, where are people looking forward to going when it’s safe to travel again? According to the study, it’s not so much where but with who they plan to spend their vacation with.

The top choice for people polled said their “dream vacation” was a chance to spend “time with the family and friends I’ve missed.” Numbers were particularly high with seniors from both the United States and United Kingdom.

“The typical idea of a big trip or vacation – planned ahead and saved for – is becoming obsolete with travel restrictions and the ability to plan ahead all but impossible. In addition, the isolation and distance of lockdowns has changed the dynamic of dream vacations as we think of them,” a statement from the survey reads.
