Black Star Gate is located in Independence Square. At the top, you will see the words “Freedom and Justice” inscribed in the monument.

Black Star Square is located between 28th February Road and Accra’s southern coastline. It is the symbol of the independence of the country.

The Mausoleum is the final resting place of Ghana’s first President and Africanist. The museum has rare artifacts relating to Ghana’s independence and tours at the park give visitors an in-depth history of Ghana’s struggle for independence.

The Jamestown lighthouse is located in the Jamestown neighborhood of Accra. The lighthouse was originally built in the 1930s, replacing an earlier lighthouse that had been built in 1871. It consists of a stone tower with a lantern and gallery, attached to a keeper’s house. Both lighthouse and keeper’s house are painted with red and white horizontal bands

Christiansborg Castle (Osu Castle), also known as Fort Christiansborg is a 17th-century castle located in Osu. The first fort was built by the Danes and has changed hands between Denmark, Norway, Portugal, the Akwamu, Britain, and finally post-Independence Ghana.

The country’s official government has been seated here since 1957.

Madina Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Ghana.  Located in the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, it is the main mosque in the district for worshipers.

Please note that admission is only for believers, but its exterior alone is worth the visit!

Just 20 miles north of Accra is Aburi Botanical Gardens: one of the most stunning gardens in the region.
