KoshieO is a luxury everyday wear that combines Ethnic inspired prints with contemporary designs.

Its logo is the silhouette of a traditional African woman carrying a baby on her back and a load of goods on her heads.  And it’s exactly what the company’s founder Nina Baksmaty wanted.

“The logo symbolized all women who deftly and successfully combines parenting, housekeeping, and breadwinning,” according to the company’s website.  “This symbolizes our mothers, wives,  aunties, daughter, nieces, and granddaughters.”

Born and raised in Ghana, Nina was exposed to elegance and fashion by her mother Goody, who she said was an outstanding fashion designer of her time.

Mentored by the Editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, the Late Franca Sozzani, Nina got the opportunity to sharpen her skill set by learning from an iconic leader in her field, which helped her to pioneer one of the fastest-growing ethnic-inspired brands in present-day.

While in school at the University of Missouri where she studied Biology,  she began trading in shoes and bags to her peers between New York and the Midwest area.

It was through this that she realized her extreme passion for fashion and business. That passion is what birthed the KoshieO fashion brand.

“The KoshieO brand was designed in order to bring new life to everyday wear,” she said. “Our luxury fabrics combined with a hint of vibrant ethnic-inspired symbolism give a custom feel to everyday fashion pieces required for the modern lifestyle”.

And her brand is not just for women.  She also has items for men, including Kente print pocket squares, blouses, and scarves.
