Florida is the reigning champion when it comes to strange news stories, and they’ve knocked it out of the park yet again.

TSA agents have seen some of any and everything; it’s part of the job. But those at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport got quite a shock when they discovered a gun stuffed inside a raw chicken. Onions, herbs and spices weren’t sufficient stuffing choices, apparently.

What Happened?

According to The Hill, “the Transportation Security Administration posted on social media that its agents at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport found a gun smuggled inside a raw chicken.”

The gun itself was wrapped in a plastic bag. Agents made the discovery in the security baggage screening room.

How Did TSA React?

Seriousness aside, they had a sense of humor about it.

Their pun-filled post on Instagram reads:

“The plot chickens as we barrel our way closer to Thanksgiving. For us, it’s a time to be thankful that our officers are always working around the cluck to keep you safe.”

“Take for instance this ‘hen you believe it?’ find at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We hate to beak it to you here, but stuffing a firearm in your holiday bird for travel is just a baste of time.”

“This idea wasn’t even half-baked; it was raw, greasy, and obviously unsupervised. The only roast happening here is this poor packing choice!”

“Feather you like it or not, there are rules for traveling with guns and ammunition. So, don’t wing it; roost over the proper packaging info through the link in our bio.”

Can You Travel On The Plane With Meats?

Yes.

CBS News reported, “cuisine for a full Thanksgiving menu, including fresh meat and seafood, are permitted in carry-on luggage as long as travelers abide by federal packaging guidelines, which are available on the TSA website.”

They added, “however, people looking to travel with guns and ammunition are required to pack unloaded weapons in locked, hard-sided containers in their checked bags, and must declare those items at the airport ticket counter when they arrive for their flight.”

TSA Agents Have Seen Many Strange Things

Guns aren’t the only oddities TSA agents have found.

Agents in Houston found a lump of crystal meth stuffed inside a breakfast burrito.

The TSA website explained, “during the routine X-ray screening of carry-on luggage, a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) saw what appeared to be an unidentified lump inside of a traveler’s breakfast burrito. Due to the unusual nature and size of the lump, the TSO requested additional inspection of the food item.”

The traveler in that case was taken into custody.

Authorities at Atlantic City Airport found bullets in a stick of deodorant.

And agents in Syracuse found “fireworks and related pyrotechnic devices” in somebody’s carry on bag.
