West Hollywood’s Iconic Chateau Marmont Sells $550 Sweaters To Raise Money For Employees
For almost a century, Chateau Marmont has been known as a landmark establishment, hosting the rich and famous of Hollywood. But the impact of COVID-19 has struck this iconic hotel and changed its focus to the wellbeing of their employees. Due to recent layoffs, Chateau Marmont has launched a “Family Fund” to support the members of their team.
“The events of the past few weeks have taken our teams away from doing what they love – looking after you. The Chateau Family Fund will be distributed equally amongst all of the staff who have been laid off in the past days,” says the hotel’s website.
To help raise funds, the hotel has set up an online shop featuring a 100-percent cashmere sweater. Produced in collaboration with London-based artist Bella Freud, who is known for her sweaters that are woven with playful pop culture references, the $550 sweaters are stamped with the hotel’s mascot, Pan, on the left sleeves and are available in both men and women’s styles. People are clearly eager to grab an iconic piece of Hollywood history while supporting a good cause, as sweaters are selling out quickly.
The shop also features the hotel’s new line of product including organic cotton tees, silk-screened crewnecks and hoodies, and a range of accessories such as scented candles, embroidered baseball caps, brass and silk tassel key chains, and more, ranging in price from $65 to $550.
If a $550 cashmere sweater isn’t really your thing, the hotel also suggests other ways to support, including direct monetary funds (which is projected to exceed it’s $200,000 goal) or through gift cards.
