Tired of digging through a messy suitcase every time you travel? DIY suitcase dividers are a simple, affordable way to keep your clothes, shoes, and travel essentials neatly organized and easy to find.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to create your own suitcase dividers using materials you likely already have at home, no special tools or sewing skills required!
Cardboard, foam board, or thin corrugated plastic sheets (for structure) A box cutter or strong scissors Ruler or measuring tape
Pencil or marker Duct tape, packing tape, or fabric tape (optional for reinforcing edges) Optional: fabric, contact paper, or wrapping paper for decorating
Open your suitcase and measure: The length, width, and depth of the interior. Decide how many compartments you want (e.g., half for clothes, a third for shoes, a small section for toiletries, etc.)
Use your measurements to cut pieces of cardboard or foam board. You’ll need vertical wall pieces and possibly a horizontal base piece depending on the layout.
Place your divider sections inside the suitcase and test the fit. Trim as needed so they sit snugly without bending.
Use tape along the edges for extra durability. Wrap dividers in fabric, contact paper, or gift wrap for a finished look.
You can make tall sections for shoes, flat ones for folded clothes, or add small boxes for socks and accessories.
For a softer, foldable option, try using flexible felt sheets or mesh laundry bags with Velcro. Label each section for quick access. Add zip pouches or packing cubes for extra organization.
