If cruises aren’t really your thing, it may be time to reassess. Richard Branson’s new, adult-only cruise line, Virgin Voyages, boasts “no kids, no buffets, and no limits,” challenging all of our cruise ship stereotypes. The aim of the experience is “to get people who’d never dream of going on a cruise ship,” said Branson to CN Traveler

The project has been in development for 5 years and hopes to redefine the cruise ship experience with something hipper, younger, and more inclusive. They plan to shake up the market with the first tattoo parlor at sea, “drag-queen brunches”, dance parties, midnight dodgeball games, and it was recently announced that Virgin Voyages is taking its unique music-themed branding to a new level with a vinyl record store and karaoke lounge aboard the ship.

According to The Points Guy, the 2,770 passenger ship, named Scarlet Lady, will feature a vinyl record store to pay homage to Virgin’s musical roots, complete with listening stations and the sale of current and classic albums, plus limited-edition collections created by the line’s resident DJs.

The karaoke lounge, called The Groupie, will feature private, soundproof rooms with a pink and purple color scheme and modernist design created by Roman Coppola.

Some of the top DJ’s in the world are already slated to perform on the cruise ship including Mark Ronson, MK (Marc Kinchen), and electronic music duo Sofi Tukker who will be performing onboard within the first year of Scarlet Lady’s launch to sea. Although electronic music will be at its core, you can also expect to hear all other genres onboard.
