It’s no secret that the current president is petty beyond words. However, there are people online making a push to “one-up” him in the petty department.

An online petition, recently created on MoveOn.org, wants to rename a part of Midtown on Fifth Avenue between East 56th and East 57th streets to President Barack H. Obama Avenue. The gag is this is the same street that is currently home to the infamous Trump Tower. It is also said to be the future headquarters for Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.

The petition goes on to give President Obama high praises for being a scandal-free President as well as for taking out Osama bin Laden during his presidency.

The petition’s organizer, Elizabeth Rowin, told WPIX that the idea to rename the road came from a meme that popped up online a year ago. It poked fun at what would eventually become Trump Tower’s address forever. What only started as a joke, however, could become a reality.

New York is notorious for street name changes. Anyone from the local city hero to famous rappers like Biggie Smalls can get their name on a street around the city. It probably wouldn’t be hard to convince city officials to do the same for President Obama.

As of last week, the petition had just over 22,000 signatures. The goal is to have 25,000 before being submitted. Rowin plans to submit the signatures to Mayor de Blasio and the New York City Council. The petition will need to have approval from both to take effect.

So far, Trump’s team has been silent on the matter, despite the petition picking up steam. It could be happening sooner than later since NYC has been on a slight street renaming wave in recent months.
