Travel Noire has always been devoted to showcasing black travelers that inspire others to see more of the world. Tiffany (@tiffanynicho) shares how traveling has helped her connect with her spirituality in a new way.
Travel Noire: Where are you originally from and where do you currently live?
Tiffany: I’m originally from Augusta, GA and currently live in Atlanta.
Travel Noire: When did traveling become more than a hobby for you?
Tiffany: Traveling has always been a hobby of mine but I became a more active traveler after becoming a registered nurse.
Travel Noire: What are your favorite domestic destinations?
Tiffany: My favorite domestic destination would have to be Chicago. I love the vibe I get every time I visit. The city has so much character.
Travel Noire: What are your favorite destinations to visit abroad?
Tiffany: My favorite destination abroad would have to be Amalfi Coast. The food is to die for and driving the coast listening to Sade was one of the most memorable moments of my life.
Travel Noire: What are your top three travel secrets that black travelers should know?
Tiffany: 1.) Only travel with a carry-on 2.) Always bring a backup credit card. 3.)Ask locals for the best food spots.
Travel Noire: How did traveling change your perspective on life?
Tiffany: Traveling has given me a better appreciation for what I have. When you travel abroad you are able to see how differently people live. Many times we take so much for granted.
Travel Noire: What has been your most inspiring travel moment?
Tiffany: My most inspiring travel moment was sleeping in the Sahara Desert. It was the most spiritual experience I’ve ever had. The quietness of the desert and being able to look up and see shooting stars as we sat around a fire made me feel closer to God than I ever have been.
Travel Noire: What’s one item that you always have in your carry-on?
Tiffany: I always have a good book in my carry-on. I feel like long plane rides are my “me time” when I can unwind and get lost in my reading as I travel to my next destination.
Travel Noire: Where are you off to next?
Tiffany: Tanzania is next on my list of adventures.
