According to a new report by Hopper, domestic flights this month are the lowest they’ve been in six years.

Hopper’s report states that if you’re traveling within the U.S., you can secure roundtrip flights for around $211.

The increased competition amongst airlines in the U.S. market is the reason behind the low prices according to an email sent by Hayley Berg, an economist with Hopper, to Travel + Leisure.

In the email, Berg says: “October is typically a low month for airfare, given the lower demand for travel in the period between summer and the end of year holidays.”

She goes on to reveal, “Increased competition in the airline industry has driven airlines to expand their fleets and drop prices in an effort to capture a larger piece of the growing demand for travel.”

In addition to the low cost, traveling in October allows for gorgeous fall views. You can experience the beautiful colors of leaves changing and mild weather without loads of tourists crowding your views.

If you’re looking to travel within the U.S., the best places to go are Austin, Texas and Fort Lauderdale, Flordia.

According to Hooper, if you head to Iceland, the saving can come in at 42 percent. October is the best month to explore the hot springs of Iceland with fewer crowds.

Head to Asia during October for prices to Bangkok at around 40 percent cheaper than usual.

It’s best to take advantage of these prices now because prices will skyrocket again around Thanksgiving.
