The First Christian-Based Airline Hopes To Bless The Sky In July 2019

The skies will soon be blessed with the very first Christian-based airline.

The non-profit airline, Judah 1, will be offering flights to missionaries around the world. That wasn’t the original plan. The airline wanted to operate as a private charter at first, but thanks to Federal Aviation Administration guidelines, that would limit the organization to only working with five other organizations. “This is not just a typical airline. This is not schedule routes and we are not taking people from Dallas to Vegas. That is not what this is about,” founder Everett Aaron said. “All of this is about missionaries and giving back and helping the world become a better place. That’s what we are about.”

A study from the Center of Global Christianity shows that there are close to 450,000 Christian missionaries in the world, which could be beneficial to Judah 1. Some groups that could potentially use Judah 1 are Baptist Medical, Kids Against Hunger, and Dental Mission International, especially considering Dental sends roughly 4,000 missionaries on trips throughout the world each year.

So far, the airline has three aircraft, a McDonnell Douglas MD83, a Falcon 900B, and a Cessna 414. Each plane can carry up to 140 passengers, plus cargo. Initially, Aaron planned to operate out of the Fort Worth’s Alliance Airport, but efforts to get off the ground were at a standstill since Alliance typically deals with cargo planes rather than passenger aircraft. Thankfully, Judah 1 found a home at Lake Texoma Jet Center. They are still looking to expand by building an 85,000 square foot facility at North Texas Regional Airport in Denison, Texas. Having space there will open doors for Judah to partner with worldwide organizations like Make A Wish Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project.

Judah 1 was hoping to take their flight in January, but the change to becoming an airline held them back. Now they are looking to fly out in July 2019.
