Finding love can be tough – especially if you’re looking in all the wrong places.

A weak location can make dating a lot harder but there are some cities that are perfect for finding love.

More than 40 percent of the U.S. adult population is unmarried (never married, divorced, or widowed), according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau estimates. That’s 111 million people in total. But the share may be higher or lower in every city, and the ratio of women to men also will differ in each.

WalletHub compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 35 key indicators of dating-friendliness, including the costs of dates, dating activities, and even dating opportunities.

WalletHub’s data set ranges from share of single population to the number of online dating opportunities to nightlife options per capita.

Here are the top 10:

  1. Atlanta, Georgia
  2. Denver, Colorado
  3. San Francisco, California
  4. San Diego, California
  5. Portland, Oregon
  6. Chicago, Illinois
  7. Los Angles, California
  8. Madison, Wisconsin
  9. Seattle, Washington
  10. Portland, Maine

What about for Black singles?

A study done by the dating app Black People Meet conducted a study that is slightly different from WalletHub’s.

According to Black People Meet, here are the top five cities for Black singles and why:

Chicago has one of the largest African-American populations in the U.S. The city is famous for honest, direct folks who are as comfortable courtside at a Bulls game as playing Frisbee in Grant Park.

Over one-third of DC’s population is African-American, including a high concentration of young professionals, politics, and academics. These decision-makers, while serious and dedicated, know how to cut loose with the best of them in the off-hours.

With a median age of 30, Houston is a very young, very big city. A relatively reasonable cost of living (9% below the national average) makes this diverse Texan metropolis a destination for many post-collegiate black singles. Houston boasts “500 cultural, visual and performing arts organizations, 90 of which are devoted to multicultural and minority arts,” according to the city’s official website.

Georgia singles are known for their looks and class. According to data from the Brookings Institute, Atlanta has the second-largest black population in the U.S. With a wealth of black universities nearby, expect to meet many affluent professionals.

The city is especially perfect for single ladies as Black men outnumber Black women (partly due to the nearby naval base).
