St. Eustatius, also known as Statia, is one of the Caribbean’s smaller and lesser known islands, but the views are just as stunning. The 13 square mile island located between St. Kitts and St. Martin is home to 36 dive sites and more protected historical monuments per square mile than any other Caribbean Island.

Now, St. Eustatius is welcoming its first luxury resort – The Golden Rock Resort.

Golden Rock Resort is a contemporary 32-guestroom hilltop resort that spans 40 acres, with lush landscaping and gardens near the island’s signature ‘quill.’ The oceanfront resort offers guests an authentic natural island experience with a touch of adventure.

The nature-inspired guestrooms and suites have modern finishes and ocean views. All accommodations offer open-air corridors, private balconies, sustainable amenities and refreshing decor. In April 2022, Golden Rock will add 22 oceanfront villas to its current roster.

“The luxury resort has two spa-treatment rooms, along with such amenities as a large asymmetrical swimming pool, oceanfront gym, tennis/basketball court, preserved historic artifacts, large outdoor children’s play area and more,” the resort states on its website.

Adventures arranged by Golden Rock’s activities team include daily hikes and diving excursions. A beach club with an infinity pool is scheduled to be completed by 2022.

As the Golden Rock Resort’s website states, it is also a sustainable property, with solar panels to completely power the resort; a reverse osmosis machine turning saltwater into clean drinking water with a capacity to store 240,000 liters; and a helophyte filter used to clean dirty water through the use of reed and bamboo to be used for irrigation of the property’s plants and grass.

St. Eustatius is located 33 miles southwest of the coast of St. Maarten, a short yet stunning 20-minute plane ride to Statia’s F. D. Roosevelt airport. Connections in St. Maarten are available with regional and international carriers, including Caribbean Airlines, LIAT, KLM, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, US Airways and Air France. Ferry service will soon be available between Saba Island, St. Kitts and St Maarten.
