Katie Sigmond, 20, is a TikTok influencer famous for posting videos of pranks on social media. Now, she has to pay for one of her latest stunts in Arizona.

In October, Sigmond posted a video on her social media accounts of her hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon before flinging the club over the edge as well. The footage went viral and gained thousands of heated reactions. The video was recently reshared to Reddit, showing that part of the iron she used went sailing into the canyon.

Sigmond did get a $285 fine, which included a $60 processing fee. The court gave her two citations: disorderly conduct for creating a hazardous condition and tossing/throwing items into the canyon, both Class B misdemeanors, according to a collateral forfeiture agreement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

‘Do we really need to say?’

The TikTok influencer had faced a maximum of $5,000 in fines and six months of prison, according to the document. Sigmond faced a third charge for littering. Park officials addressed the incident in an Oct. 28 Instagram post.

“Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?’” the post said.

“On Oct. 26, an individual posted a video to her personal TikTok page showing her hitting a golf ball and throwing a golf club into the canyon near Mather Point,” park officials said. “Members of the public helped identify the individual’s social media account.”

The following day, Grand Canyon law enforcement identified, found and contacted the person later publicly identified as Sigmond, according to the post.

“Throwing objects over the rim of the canyon is not only illegal but can also endanger hikers and wildlife who may be below,” park officials said in October.

The court dismissed the case under the condition she paid for the other citations. She paid the fees, the outlet reported. Park officials warned people against throwing things into the canyon.
