With shows like the Jetson’s and Star Trek, it was only a matter of time before they started to play out in real life. By the year 2025, the first hotel in outer space will open to those wanting to vacation a little different.

The Gateway Foundation will build this new age concept based on the plans of rocket scientist, Wernher von Braun. The goal is to make traveling to space just as common as hopping on a cruise or going to the latest hot destination.

“Eventually, going to space will just be another option people will pick for their vacation, just like going on a cruise or going to Disney World,” Tim Alatorre revealed, designer of the project, revealed in an interview.

The hotel will utilize existing technology already in place at the International Space Station. But, designers will add fake gravity so that guests can maneuver the same as they would while on Earth.

When it comes to construction, automated systems like drones and robots will be used while in orbit. It will also make use of GSAL, special space construction machinery developed by Orbital Construction.

Initially, the hotel will welcome only 100 guests per week and it will be open to anyone who can afford it. Features will include restaurants, bars, musical concerts, movie screenings, and educational seminars all while in space.
