“I was never scared of the worldwide audience,” said rising hip-hop star and Guyanese-bred SAINt JHN fresh off the stage following his high-energy performance at Las VegasLife Is Beautiful Festival. The festival featured an A-List line up including Post Malone, Chance The Rapper, Gunna and more. We got the opportunity to chat with SAINt JHN about his global background and how it played into his success.

SAINt JHN, real name Carlos St. John, was raised in both Brooklyn and Guyana and spent a lot of time traveling during his formative years. When asked about how this impacted his career in music, he said, “I had seen parts of the world that other people hadn’t seen. That made me comfortable to tour Europe before the United States. I never had the fear factor when going to a new place to build a fan base, because I was comfortable pretty much anywhere in the world.”

If you haven’t heard his melodically transient style yet, you should check him out. He has a unique, but extremely catchy and well-thought out sound. He credits much of his sound to his unique upbringing.

“Growing up in Guyana, I was heavily influenced by dancehall music,” says SAINt JHN. “You can hear that in my music today. All of those guys had amazing melodies and it helped me in deciding what kind of artist I wanted to be.”

As a musician, traveling has become a major part of SAINt JHN’s life. When asked what his favorite tour location so far, he says, “Russia for sure. I don’t speak one lick of Russian and they don’t speak english for the most part, but to see 10,000 people who don’t speak english singing your verses word for word is a powerful experience.”

And if he could pick one venue to host the biggest show of his career, SAINt JHN already has it all figured out.

“The Garden is up there, but also Barclay’s because it’s in Brooklyn. But if I had to choose one spot, it may be The Cultural Centre in Georgetown Guyana. That’s home right there.”

SAINt JHN, who just dropped his album “Ghetto Lenny’s Love Songs,” is currently on his first official world tour and is pushing his new single “Anything Can Happen” with Meek Mill. Check it out!
