We didn’t take Rihanna for much of a cricket fan but what we do know is that she will never miss an opportunity to represent for her Caribbean culture.

The Bajan singer/business mogul took a trip to London to cheer on the West Indies as they took on Sri Lanka at the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup on Monday. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka won by 23 runs, however, the West Indies team has another matchup on Thursday, this time against Afghanistan.

For those unfamiliar with the Cricket World Cup, which is in its 12th year, all ten teams play are set to play each other once in a single group. That means each team will play nine matches, a total of 45 games. The top four winners will then progress to a knockout stage. So far, Team West Indies has lost 6 of the 8 matches they’ve had so far, with the June 10th match against South Africa resulting in a ‘No Result’ due to being canceled by rain. So, while the West Indies still has another match, it’s pretty clear they won’t be advancing. However, that didn’t stop the team from celebrating the fact they got to meet the Bad Gal Rihanna in the flesh.

Rihanna’s visit gets even better. While in England, the pop star was reunited with her former P.E. teacher, childhood mentor, and father figure, Roddy Estwick, who is the assistant coach for the team. The singer becomes emotional as she embraces her mentor, whom she hasn’t seen in several years.

In an Instagram comment, Rihanna details just how much Mr. Estwick means to her.

“This is my teacher from school! He was a mentor and father figure to me. I haven’t seen him in years!”

In another post on Instagram, she writes, “My mentor my champ, my MVP, my school teacher, my first “JayBrown”, Mr. Estwick. You made my day!”

Win, lose, or draw, Rihanna’s trip was definitely a success.
