Detroit airport police have identified the North Carolina pastor accused of urinating on a female passenger.

Daniel Chalmers acknowledged having “a couple of drinks” before the Oct. 12 red-eye Delta Airlines flight from Las Vegas for Detroit. Chalmers, who is the pastor of Love Wins Ministry in Raleigh, North Carolina, told police that he was taking “prescribed medicine” before he relieved himself on a passenger who was sleeping mid-flight.

Chalmers released a statement apologizing for what happened:

“I want to sincerely apologize for my actions on this overnight flight. I took an Ambien for the first time to sleep well on my flight and had a terrible reaction. I am so sorry for how this effected (sic) everyone on this flight and especially one lady passenger in particular. I have reached out and apologized to her as well. I want to please ask everyone for their forgiveness in this. I never intended or wanted for this to happen.”

Alicia Beverly, who was returning home from a vacation, told Fox 2 Detroit that the incident had left her traumatized. Beverly was forced to sit in wet clothes for several more hours before the plane landed.

“I left work yesterday because I couldn’t stay, but I had to tell them why I needed to leave,” she explained. “It was a lot. My anxiety was really high, literally. Since then, I have only gotten four hours of sleep.”
