Orbitz Launches Site Filters For LGBTQIA Hotels, Travel Advice, And Guides
Orbitz is changing the travel game with the launch of its new site filters highlighting LGBTQIA welcoming hotels. The microsite, Orbitz.com/Pride includes hotels, travel advice, inspiration, and attractions that support and are allies of the LGBTQIA community. There are also travel guides and advice from experts and influencers that are queer-identifying.
Orbitz Brand Director Carey Malloy says in a statement, “Culturally, we’ve come a long way since 2001 when Orbitz created the first gay print ad for travelers. Still, we know how much work has to be done in making the larger travel community more open and accepting for everyone. That’s why we’re re-launching an LGBTQIA microsite we first pioneered almost two decades ago for a new generation.”
GayOrbitz.com was the original LGBTQ microsite on the Orbitz platform and was launched in 2002. The travel site was also the first to create a mainstream TV commercial featuring a gay couple and the first to hire a drag spokesperson, Miss Richfield 1981.
Hotels listed on the Orbitz.com/Pride microsite have to meet high standards such as training staff members on gender identities, sexual orientations and offering LGBTQ-friendly activities to its guests.
Malloy says, “As a brand, we’re rededicating ourselves to making a more inclusive travel experience, and that starts with our travel partners and extends to how we use our data, travel reviews and more to serve up recommendations and advice. This is another first step for our brand of many more to come.”
All you have to do is visit Orbitz.com/Pride to see a list of LGBTQIA friendly hotels as well as getting advice from travel experts!
