Some days you want to stunt, and that’s ok. Now, you can really treat yourself by taking a helicopter from lower Manhattan to JFK Airport to catch your next flight.

This week, Uber announced that they would loosen up the prior restrictions for their new helicopter service. When the option first rolled out, it was only for members of the company’s platinum and diamond tiers.

“The focus in the near term is to open this up to all riders, to demonstrate this vision of seamless connection between cars and helicopters,” says Eric Allison, head of Uber Elevate, the company’s flight business. 

Just like Uber’s car service, you can schedule your ride via the app. However, for Uber Copter, you can do so up to five days in advance. Depending on the time that you order your copter, the price can fluctuate.

As of now, none top-tier members can only request the service between 2 pm and 6 pm during the weekday. A one-way flight will cost you between $200 and $225.

As far as the actual experience itself, you will first be picked up in a car and taken to the downtown Manhattan heliport. You must live below Houston street in order to book as Uber feels if you live farther out, it would be a waste of time.

“If you live on the Upper West Side, taking a trip to lower Manhattan and then a [helicopter] flight to JFK might not make much sense,” says Anil Nathan, Uber’s general manager of aviation. 

The total flight is roughly 8-minutes. After which you are taken in another car directly to your terminal.

This service is also available leaving the airport and going into the city. There are no restrictions on this route because once you land at the heliport, an Uber car is able to drive you anywhere.
