As a person who once had to overcome financial struggles of his own, Nigerian dancehall artist Patoranking is now looking to help young students achieve their dreams a lot easier.

After sitting down with Fred Swaniker, the founder of African Leadership University, Patoranking decided to partner with the university to offer a scholarship in his name.

The ALU Patoranking Scholarship program will be awarded to 10 students from around the world who are seen as leaders and change-makers in their own right. The program will allow them to focus on their studies at ALU without worrying about financial constraints.

“I believe exceptional leaders and change-makers can come from anywhere. Financial constraints should not prevent the next great African innovators from gaining the tools, skill sets and networks to bring their ideas to life” Patoranking said while speaking at the school visit in Lagos, Nigeria.

To be considered for the program, applicants must be deemed resilient, driven, innovative, creative, mission-driven, have demonstrated a positive impact in their communities and come from a lower-income background.

The first set of awards will be available for the fall 2020 semester at the school’s Mauritius or Rwanda campuses. For more details or to apply, you can visit the ALU website at www.alueducation.com/patoranking-scholarship.
