I have always thought of Washington, D.C. as the happy medium between Atlanta and New York. More fast-paced and urban than ATL, but you can certainly find trees, fresh air and walkable city streets without being bumped and ignored.

D.C. is definitely a busy city and I get the urge to get away and find a place to relax. During one of my many adventures, I stumbled across a place to chill. Don’t get me wrong, you can certainly find me in a weekend turn-up brunch or laughing loud with friends at happy hours during the week, but I do enjoy doing absolutely nothing from time to time.

The perfect place is, House of Steep. I go there to partake in a little herbal relaxation. You heard it right, E’s down for the herb intake. Now before you get your panties in a bunch, I’m talking about foot sanctuary treatments. Let me break it down.

Foot soaking is NOT A PEDICURE. This really is an herbal treatment, intended to relax you, just as much as other herbal relaxation practices :). How does it work? Well, the ancient tradition of foot soaks target different ailments. The herbs and oils assist in easing discomforts from headaches, muscle aches, sadness, insomnia and recovery.

The essential oils and herbs are absorbed through your feet and make its way up, nourishing your body and mind. You can select the soak blend best needed to alleviate your conditions and provide therapy. They even have special treatments for people dealing with chemotherapy, high blood pressure, allergies, diabetes, sprains and pregnancies. This is a really cool place, quaint, comfortable and affordable. There are about 17 different soaking methods catered to treat your mood, which include over 40 different herbs, plants and oils. In addition, House of Steep serves a plethora of teas, soup and soft delicious pastries.

If you live in the DMV area, you probably need it, since you walk about three miles a day, are bumped around on the train, drive two hours a day in traffic and stay up late to finish work. Try relaxing with this herbal treatment.
