Delta Airlines just released a new policy that eliminates it’s $150 specialty sports bag fee, making it more affordable to travel with bikes, surfboards, and other large sports equipment.

Travelers with sports gear will now pay standard Delta baggage fees as long as their equipment meets weight and size requirements.

Delta’s current baggage costs are $30 each way for the first checked luggage item and $40 for the second.

The policy only applies to flights purchased on or after July 17, meaning that adventure junkies will still be forced to pay higher fees unless they booked last minute tickets.

Delta isn’t the first airline to eliminate such fees.

In 2017, Alaska Airlines became the first carrier to cut fees for oversize sports equipment. In 2018, United Airlines removed its $150 fee for surfboards, but only on nonstop flights to and from California. In May, American Airlines adopted a similar policy that eliminates fees as long as the equipment meets weight and size requirements.
