Burna Boy and Davido Will Headline This Black-Owned Music Fest In Puerto Rico
After a successful run in Portugal and high ticket sales for the upcoming Ghana wave, the team behind the Afro Nation Music Festival announced they will make their way to Puerto Rico in March.
The 4-day, Black-owned festival features some of the best artists from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
“After a historic debut year for Afro Nation Portugal, we’re bringing the unforgettable experience to America to celebrate love, peace, unity and the beauty of African culture,” SMADE, co-founder of Afro Nation said in a statement. “Our inaugural event successfully created something for all races to be able to come down and celebrate African culture coming together. We’re very excited about the next chapter of our journey.”
The latest installment of the festival is already being deemed the “Puerto Rican spring break” as festival creators aim to unite locals, African-Americans and the diaspora for a hedonistic celebration of Black music and culture.
The Portugal event sold out, so you know this one will be lit. More than 20,000 fans vibed to the sounds of afrobeats, hip-hop, UK rap, reggae and dancehall along some of Algarve’s most stunning shores. Past performers included: Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Femi Kuti, Jidenna, Busy Signal, Stefflon Don, D’Banj and J Hus to name a few.
The second wave will be held in late December in Ghana, and the anticipation is very high.
Afro Nation Puerto Rico will take place March 18-21 along the stunning shores of Balneario de Carolina, just 6 minutes from San Juan’s airport. Headliners include Burna Boy, Davido, Beenie Man, and Chronixx just to name a few.
