Memorial Day Travel: The Best Long Weekend Getaways For Couples
Sometimes a long-weekend getaway is just what you need to escape the daily hustle. With Memorial Day right around the corner, it’s the prefect excuse to grab bae, pack your bags, and head out of town. Here is some inspiration to get you started.
Martha’s Vineyard, MA
Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard is a highly melanated community on the small New England island. Head to Inkwell Beach for some relaxation and Slice of Life or Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Company for a bite to eat. Enjoy an early morning sunrise or an evening stroll down Circuit Ave to take in some of the local flare of this charming town.
Catalina Island, CA
Catalina Island is only a short ferry ride from Long Beach or Los Angeles. The small island is home to quaint restaurants, ice cream shops, beaches, and even a casino. Rent a golf cart for the day to explore the island and take in the sights outside of the more touristy areas. If you and your partner are into more adventurous activities, the island also offers golfing, hiking, fishing, paddle boarding, and parasailing.
Atlantic City, NJ
Unlike the previous two destinations, Atlantic City offers much more to do in terms of nightlife and entertainment. Known for its world-renowned casinos and resorts, Atlantic City is a great Memorial Day getaway for the couple looking for a little more action. A walk along the boardwalk is a must or enjoy a more tranquil moment at the beach.
Austin is known for its eclectic population of locals, live music, and amazing food. You can spend an entire evening dancing to country and blues music at local bars and eateries after a day of lounging at Lake Austin or Quarry Lake. Be sure to get your spot early, as temperatures and crowds can be very high!
Myrtle Beach, SC
Myrtle Beach boasts 60 miles of coastline filled with culture, top-rated restaurants, and Southern hospitality. After spending the day at the beach, check out Aspen Grille for some southern fine dining in a rustic and romantic setting. Myrtle Beach may be best known for its coastline, but it also offers an amusement park, aquarium, and celebrity-designed golf course.
