We were picked up at the airport and escorted to the Intercontinental Bali. We stepped out of the vehicle to a train of warm greetings from the staff. As we walked through the grandiose lobby welcomed with contagious smiles; we truly felt like we were coming home. The check-in process was near seamless.

We then walked through the Club Lounge, a gorgeous exclusive venue for Intercontinental club members. With impeccable ambiance, indoor and outdoor seating, a grand piano, the club lounge is very well designed. We sat down for a mocktail before we were shown to our room by our butler.

Our room was just as stunning as the lounge. It was large & spacious with a beautiful bathroom & patio. And even though we had a wonderful TV, we were out exploring the property so much that we never got a chance to turn it on!

From there, we were wisked around the property by our amazing butler, who showed us everything there was to know about Intercontinental Bali. It was a great way to get a feel for the resort.

After we returned from our tour, we walked along the beach, catching sights of the airport runway just a short distance away. We spent hours watching planes take off and land from our cozy beach hideaway.

Before long, our tastebuds were in serious need of food. Our pick? KO — a Japanese culinary experience. According to Intercontinental Bali:

KO Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge is an award-winning and stylish venue, long popular on the island for its authentic and contemporary Japanese cuisine.

Within its very own wing, KO appeals to the eyes as well as the palate, combining a subtle infusion of Balinese architecture and Japanese aesthetics, brought to life with bold colours, creating a modern, minimalist-style dining environment. KO prides itself on authentic Japanese cuisine that combines elements of Japan’s legendary art and culture with the latest tastes.

Because it was Valentine’s day, we decided to indulge a little bit. We had a four course meal so authentic, I forgot that I was in Indonesia!

The following day was my absolute favorite. While I’ve had hundreds of massages over the years, I can truly say that the massage I received at the Spa Villas was in the top three. From the moment I arrived, there was an extra special ambiance. We were allowed to sample oils, drink amazing tea & flip through an extensive treatment booklet.

I ended up choosing the deep tissue massage & a scented oil. An hour and a half later, I emerged from the villa renewed and refreshed. I couldn’t stop smiling. If you don’t have the honor of staying at the Intercontinental, visit their spa villa — and tell them that I sent you.

Overall, the proximity of the resort to the airport coupled with the benefits of being a club member (a butler, private lounge, inspiration room & much more) and wonderful staff make Intercontinental Bali an excellent choice for a business trip or family getaway. You’ll get a wonderful taste of traditional local hospitality in an indulgent setting. All in all, you know how the saying goes — club membership has it’s benefits. This is everything you’d expect (and more) of a phenomenal vacation.
