Mark your calendars, because 4/20 is not the only day of the year to nationally celebrate the medicinal and recreational properties of cannabis. March 28 is National Weed Appreciation Day and we would hate for you to miss out on the celebration. Here are a few black-owned dispensaries around the country to ensure you are properly equipped for the day.
The first black woman-owned dispensary in Denver, Colorado, SimplyPure serves a variety of vegan edibles, flowers, and operates a small-batch farm that was voted the Best Flavor Champion at Colorado’s 2018 The Grow Off Competition. Their passionate budologists work to constantly educate newcomers and frequent consumers alike on safe, sustainable, and beneficial cannabis products.
Mary and Main
Mary and Main was founded by a team of medical professionals in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Today, the dispensary sells a variety of cannabis options as well as classes on marijuana for the budding entrepreneur. Their mission is to provide safe and premium quality products with exemplary and compassionate service to all medical patients who are suffering from a number of chronic, debilitating illnesses.

Located in Detroit, Michigan, Botaniq is a “cannabis wellness” store that grows its own plants. According to their website, they are “passionate crusaders for the healing benefits of cannabis and staunch advocates of correcting the devastating effects of prohibition”. Their cannabis is hand-trimmed to maintain and preserve trichomes, which are some of the most potent medicinal compounds of cannabis.
99th Floor is a gourmet Cannabis-infused food brand, hosting Cannabis-focused gourmet dinners featuring chef Miguel Trinidad. He offers subtle dosages that allow diners to consume a full five-course meal and slowly accumulate a high in the process.
