The founders of Lexington, Kentucky’s first Black-owned bourbon distillery is now taking pre-orders for their limited first release.

Sean and Tia Edwards, co-founders of Fresh Bourbon Distillery Co., confirmed the preorders will ship in late 2020 or early 2021.

The two registered the company in 2017 and realized at that moment they would make history as Lexington’s first black-owned bourbon distillery.

“It’s something to be said that nobody has done in hundreds of years,” Sean told Travel Noire during an interview. “We don’t take that lightly. We’re proud of that fact.”

This historic first release will reportedly be shipped in a celebratory commemorative package with a signature rocks glass and a branded shirt.

“For nearly three years, we have been diligently developing an authentic and unique Bourbon and spirits line,” Edwards told Black Business. “We chose not to buy Bourbon from someone else and place our name on a bottle. We have been very intentional and deliberate in crafting our spirits – from the mash bills up.”

Pre-order will be available through September 30th and can be purchased here at FreshBourbon.com.
