If you weren’t already hip to one of the latest travel lingos/trends, then we are here to put you on game. Micro-cations are defined as a vacation that does not last longer than 5 nights. If you fall within the millennial age range, then it is likely the way you already travel.

According to the 2019 Vacation Confidence Index released by Allianz Global Assistance, millennials are leading the way in this trend and more than 57% of Americans traveled this way last year.

Factors for the rise in shorter trips range from smaller budgets, less time off from work, and just the overall need to travel often without a lot of time.

We found a few fun holidays thanks to the Hilton All Suites “Seize the Weekend” campaign, which was created to get more travelers traveling during these special days. They are the perfect excuse to plan your next micro-cation, so take advantage.

National Day of Unplugging- March 7

Nothing says unplug like booking a short stay in a remote location with all the views. Use the time to reflect and set your intentions for the rest of your year.

Don’t Go to Work Unless It’s Fun Day- April 3

Do we even need to explain this one? It falls on a Friday, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get out of town for your newly extended weekend.

National Travel and Tourism Week- May 3-9

It’s almost as if the travel Gods are giving you the most direct sign to take a trip. You have plenty of date options between that Sunday and Saturday to plan.

National Selfie Day- June 21

Give your friends FOMO as you flick it up on this holiday, while also being on vacation. This falls on a Sunday so that Saturday through Monday is the perfect time to escape.

International Self-Care Day- July 24

Another great holiday that falls on a Friday. This year, more than ever, people have set self-care as one of their goals for 2020. Well, don’t backslide on your resolution by missing out on the day that was created exactly for that.

National Beach Day- August 30

Pack your favorite swimsuit, big floppy hat, and head to the closest beach. Or, catch a flight and live it up on the shores of a white sand beach.

Labor Day- September 7

The holiday that is said to signify the end of summer. No matter where you decide to go, there is sure to be a party going on at some point over the long weekend.

World Mental Health Day- October 10

Take care of your mind on this Saturday holiday and book a staycation or take a road trip to your favorite nearby place. Your mind and body will thank you.

National Family Week- November 22

This holiday falls within the Thanksgiving holiday week as well. While many will come together over the dinner table at home, it’s also a great time for a quick family vacay too.

Travel Tuesday- December 1

Again, do we really need to give you a reason to take advantage of this holiday? It’s not “stay at home Tuesday,” so be out!
